Panna National Park

"The most scenic park in Central India. It is a study in landscape-integrated wildlife photography."

Terrain, Flora & Logistics

The Terrain Narrative

A landscape of deep gorges and cascading waterfalls. Panna is a triumph of conservation, having successfully rebuilt its tiger population from scratch. The Ken River snaking through the park adds a unique aquatic dimension.

Flora & Fauna

The park is a mix of dry deciduous forest and open grasslands. It is the best place in India to see the Gharial (gharial crocodile) in the wild, along with a thriving tiger population and seven species of vultures.

Photography Strategy

The "Gorge Sentinel": Use the cliff edges to photograph vultures in flight from above. On the boat, use a wide-angle lens (16-35mm) to capture the sheer scale of the sandstone canyons.
