The Ravine Country Prelude

A day held open in Delhi before the drive south to the ravines, absorbing whatever hour your international flight lands. Wander Hauz Khas Village, or simply rest. Tomorrow we transfer to the red sandstone banks of the Chambal.

Use it to calibrate - format memory cards, test long lenses against a static subject (the sandstone jaalis of Humayun's Tomb work well for focus-tracking practice), and pack the day bag you'll actually carry in the field. If jet lag allows, the diffused midday light in Old Delhi's Chandni Chowk rewards street photography - high ISO tolerance over precision, since the frame is about density and motion, not the surgical detail the parks will demand."
