The Day-by-Day Itinerary

01
Arrival Mumbai

The Coastal-Deccan Prelude

Arrival at Mumbai (BOM). Briefing at our coastal residency on the unique Western-circuit tracking protocols.

Naturalist's Strategy "The Monsoon Palette: Mumbai's coastal light is softer and more diffused than the interior parks ahead, thanks to Arabian Sea humidity. Use it to practice metering for haze before the harsher, drier light of the reserve to come."

The Morning Ritual

Orientation over hand-pressed Nilgiri coffee.

The Culinary Experience

Gourmet "Coastal-Deccan" welcome dinner.

02
Orientation & Strategy

A Day Before the Grasslands

A full day at leisure in Mumbai before the drive to Gujarat, built in deliberately given this short itinerary's tight pacing and the unpredictability of international arrivals. Walk the Gateway of India, or simply rest. Tomorrow we drive toward the blackbuck grasslands of Velavadar.

Naturalist's Strategy "The Coastal Contrast: Mumbai's harsh midday light and reflective sea haze are poor practice for the Western Ghats' filtered forest canopy ahead - but the golden hour along Marine Drive or the Gothic stonework of CST is worth an hour of your morning, if only to reset your eye before the terrain changes completely."

The Morning Ritual

Breakfast with a sea view, taken slowly - the last coastal skyline before the itinerary turns inland.

The Culinary Experience

Dinner at an old-school Irani cafe or a coastal Konkan restaurant - Mumbai's food identity in one sitting, before regional lodge cuisine takes over.

03
Mumbai to Velavadar

The Golden Savannah

Morning flight to Ahmedabad and a private SUV transfer to the edge of the Velavadar grasslands. We arrive for the afternoon light, focusing on the vast, golden vistas and the first glimpses of the herds.

Naturalist's Strategy "Savannah Panning: Blackbucks are built for speed and vertical leaps. Use a slow shutter speed (1/40s to 1/60s) for a 'Motion-Blur' pan. The golden grass creates a horizontal 'streaking' effect that emphasizes the incredible velocity of the herd across the open plains."

The Morning Ritual

Sunrise meditation on the open savannah.

The Culinary Experience

Traditional Kathiyawadi "Bajra Rotla" and organic dairy.

04
Velavadar Salt Flats

The Wolf Vigil

A specialized dawn patrol on the edge of the Gulf of Khambhat. We search for the Indian Gray Wolf and the Lesser Florican. The light on the salt flats is clinical; we use it to create high-contrast silhouettes.

Audio-tracking: Identifying the Florican's jump-call.

The Culinary Experience

Sundowners served on the stark white salt flats.

05
Departure Mumbai

The Savannah Return

A final morning drive to capture the "Salt Mirage" effect before our return flight to Mumbai and your international departure from BOM.

Naturalist's Strategy "The Coastal-Deccan Contrast: Mumbai is a city of high-contrast maritime light. Focus on the 'Blue Hour' at Marine Drive; use a slow shutter speed to capture the motion of the 'Queen’s Necklace' while maintaining the structural detail of the Art Deco buildings."

The Morning Ritual

Signature de-brief and gift-set.

The Culinary Experience

Grand farewell Gujarati Thali.
