The Day-by-Day Itinerary
The Lutyens Prelude
Arrival at New Delhi (DEL). Briefing at our private residency on the history of Project Barasingha. We review the geological differences between the hard-ground and swamp-dwelling habitats.
The Morning Ritual
Orientation over hand-pressed Nilgiri coffee.
The Culinary Experience
Private de-brief dinner with the Senior Naturalist.
Delhi at Leisure
A full day at leisure in the capital before the flight to Central India, built in deliberately to absorb an unpredictable international arrival. Visit India Gate, or simply rest. Tomorrow we fly toward the hard-ground swamp deer of Kanha.
The Morning Ritual
A slow start - coffee on the terrace, unhurried, with nowhere to be before mid-morning.
The Culinary Experience
An easy, low-key dinner near the hotel - the last multi-cuisine city menu before the itinerary's food turns regional and lodge-based.
The Spirit of the Maidan
Morning flight to Central India and transfer to the Kanha meadows. We arrive in time for the evening patrol, looking for the hard-ground Barasingha herds as they graze in the iconic open grasslands.
The Morning Ritual
Meadow-side espresso briefing.
The Culinary Experience
Traditional Baiga-tribe organic lunch.
Hard-Ground Mastery
Full day in the Kanha core. We focus on the mating rituals and the social structure of the hard-ground herds. The contrast of the golden deer against the deep green Sal forest provides a classic photographic canvas.
The Morning Ritual
Sunrise meditation in the tall grass.
The Culinary Experience
Gourmet bush-breakfast served on the vehicle.
The Terai Transition
A shift to the northern floodplains. We fly toward the Indo-Nepal border, entering the humid world of the Terai. The landscape changes from dry deciduous forest to massive, water-logged marshes.
The Morning Ritual
Final Kanha meadow scan.
The Culinary Experience
Slow-cooked North Indian "Pahari" dal.
The Swamp-Deer Vigil
Deep entry into the swampy grasslands of Dudhwa. We track the sub-species that has adapted to live in standing water. We watch the herds as they navigate the tall "Elephant Grass" and the deep "Tals" (lakes).

Picnic lunch served by the Jhadi Tal edge.
