"The ultimate Thar Desert experience."
Terrain, Flora & Logistics
The Terrain Narrative
A fragile ecosystem of rolling sand dunes and craggy rocks. The best place to see the Great Indian Bustard.
Flora & Fauna
Sparse Khejri (Prosopis cineraria) and thorn scrub anchoring the dune systems -- a landscape built for open-horizon photography rather than canopy cover.
Photography Strategy
The "Horizon Line": shoot low and wide at dawn to exaggerate the dune ridgelines. For the Great Indian Bustard, a 600mm+ lens and a vehicle-mounted bean bag are essential -- this is one of the most cautious, difficult-to-approach birds in India.
